The EDPA Awards
The most prestegious recognition program for experiential designers and producers

The Hazel Hays Award

The Hazel Hays award recognizes an individual for outstanding contribution to the experiential/exhibit industry overall.  The award is the highest honor bestowed by EDPA.

 It was established in 1976 to honor Hazel Hays, an industry pioneer who rendered outstanding service to EDPA and promoted the exhibit industry as a whole. Hays was known as the “first lady of the exhibit industry” and was the first woman to serve on the EDPA board of directors.

The application must be completed and contain information documenting the nominee’s specific contributions and achievements in regards to:

  • Made significant contributions to the knowledge and literature of the industry

  • Made significant contributions the design or invention of material

  • Made significant contributions to equipment-process or technical services

  • Influenced the industry in a significant way

The nominee must be a member of EDPA. The application information will be used by the Awards Committee to determine the finalists. These finalists will be listed on a ballot and voted upon by the Selection Committee.

The Ambassador Award

The Ambassador Award acknowledges an individual for outstanding service or contribution to EDPA and the industry.  Specifically, an EDPA member that has gone above and beyond to promote and participate in EDPA’s engagements and good works.

The application must be completed and contain summary information documenting the nominee’s specific contributions and achievements to EDPA.

The nominee must be a member of EDPA. The application information will be used by the Awards Committee to determine the finalists. These finalists will be listed on a ballot and voted upon by the Selection Committee.

Michael R. Westcott Designer of the Year

The Designer of the Year Award acknowledges a designer who works diligently to enhance the professional standards of experiential/exhibit designers, contributes their talents, creativity and personal time to bring innovation to experiential/exhibit design.

In 2003, EDPA added the “Designer of the Year” award.  Michael Wescott was not only a major supporter of EPDA but a tireless supporter of design in every aspect of exhibiting and life.  He supported the transition of EDPA from a traditional fabrication association to an association that represents creative thinking as well as the doers

The application must be completed and contain information documenting the nominee’s specific contributions and achievements in regards to:

  • Passionate about the experiential/exhibition industry and the role of design within

  • Works diligently to enhance the professional standards of experiential/exhibit designers

  • Contributes their talents and creativity to bring innovation and diversity to experiential/exhibit design

  • Commits personal time and energy to help others to grow in their field

  • Is viewed as a leader or key contributor by their peers

  • Has championed causes or programs to improve the processes, effectiveness or efficiency of experiential/exhibit design

  • Has been generous in their support of EDPA

  • Is admired and respected by the industry for their contributions

The nominee must be a member of EDPA. The application information will be used by the Awards Committee to determine the finalists. These finalists will be listed on a ballot and voted upon by the Selection Committee.

EDDIE Awards

The EDDIE Awards recognize outstanding creative achievements for self-promotion within the experiential/event industry across five categories: 

  • Small Exhibits (exhibit space)

  • 20 x 20 or Larger (exhibit space)

  • Print Matter Campaign (advertising, promotional material, direct mail, etc.)

  • Online or Multi-Media (website, video, email, etc.)

  • Best End-to-End Customer Experience (integrated campaign across channels)

Composed entries within the categories should include:

  • Objectives/challenges to address

  • Strategies defined

  • Target audience                     

  • Execution summary and photos

  • Factors the enabled success  

  • Results

The Eddie awards are judged solely on the self-promotion of a company not on the promotion of a client.   The nominee must be a member of EDPA. The application information will be used by the Awards Committee to determine the finalists. These finalists will be listed on a ballot and voted upon by the Selection Committee.

$125 fee per entry (may enter multiple categories)


2018 EDDIE Award Winners

Chapter of the Year

The Chapter of the year award acknowledges an outstanding chapter for their diligence and hard work in promoting EDPA, and its innovative ways in forging ahead as a chapter. EDPA Chapters are evaluated based on the following categories:

  • Membership: entries evaluated on objectives, action plans and results of activities targeted at the recruitment of new members for both local and national programs, and retention of existing members. Evaluation will consider program creativity and percentage of new members versus base membership.

  • Programming:  entries evaluated on regular meetings, programs, events, workshops and seminars. Points will be awarded for creativity of subjects/speakers; diversity of subjects/speakers; relevance to the tradeshow and event marketing industry.

  • Fund-Raising: entries evaluated on objectives, action plans and results of special events or projects. Examples of fund-raisers include golf outings and auctions.

  • Student Assistance: entries evaluated based on activities undertaken to advance awareness and understanding of the experiential/event marketing communications field among college and/or high school students and to assist them in pursuing careers in this field. Examples include scholarship programs, internships, career days, workshops, seminars, guest speaker programs and student chapter involvement.

  • National Programs: entries will be evaluated based on activities undertaken to encourage local members to participate on the national level in the association membership and events.

  • Public Relations: entries will be evaluated on objectives, action plans and results of publicity activities

  • Chapter Web Site: entries will be evaluated on content of local chapter website, ease of use and submission of events to National web site calendar 

  • Enthusiasm and Creativity: This category recognizes the effort and determination that goes into forming a new chapter or reenergizing an existing chapter. 

 

Chapter of the Year is determined by evaluation across categories. The application information will be used by the Awards Committee to determine the winner.

 International Collaboration Award

The International Collaboration award recognizes companies which have, through their membership in the EDPA, formed international partnerships to deliver outstanding work for their clients within an international format. 

Composed entries within the categories should include:

  • Partner companies involved (both must be EDPA member companies)

  • Objective/challenges to address

  • Explanation of collaboration

  • Target audience         

  • Campaign objectives  

  • Execution summary and photos

  • Factors the enabled success  

  • Results

 The nominees must be members of EDPA and at least one of the companies an International EDPA member. The application information will be used by the Awards Committee to determine the finalists. These finalists will be listed on a ballot and voted upon by the Selection Committee.
