NorCal Chapter Presents “A Designer’s Challenge”

When:           Wednesday, April 25th, 2007
Time:            11:00-2:45 p.m.
Location:          Moscone Center, South Hall, Mezzanine, Room 200
747 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94102

Exhibit Design is the most powerful element in exhibit sales. The process of creating an environment based on marketing objectives takes not only visionary capabilities, but also a firm grasp of the physical requirements necessary to bring an idea to reality. Two of the exhibit industry’s most prominent freelance designers take us through the creative process and help us gain the edge in selling over our competitors. Higher levels of design differentiate companies in our competitive business and allow strategic sellers to win over transactional sellers.

Northern California Chapter Hosted Successful Chapter Meeting on Valentine’s Day

The Northern California Chapter hosted an exciting chapter meeting on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.  Dick Wheeler of Professional Display and Graphics, hosted the meeting in his beautiful show room in Sunnyvale California.

EDPA members flew in from the Las Vegas and Southern California Chapters to attend and some left with magnums of Champagne and chocolate hearts!  The detailed and informative economic survey was presented by Paul Porcher and Justin Hersh.

Our guest speaker, Troy Collins spoke about how to leverage your company’s equity and start an aggressive savings plan for retirement.  He estimated that people in there 40’s would need at least 10 million in savings to retire when they are 65.  That was a wake up call for everyone!

Northern California Chapter Forecasts “Optimism”

Norcal Chapter

Justin, Billy, John, Dave, Paul, and Maryanne“Cautious Optimism” was the message at the recent Chapter meeting for the NorCal chapter of EDPA. Paul Porcher of General Graphics and Exhibits reviewed EDPA’s economic survey, which estimates a 2004 average cost per linear foot of new exhibit construction at $1,108.00, and an average per square foot cost for island construction of $134.00. John Moyes, also of GGE, toured the group through their facility discussing the GGE interactive exhibit design approach and showing examples of technical imaging processing for high profile images and priceless artwork.

Gene WintherGene Winther of Expon Exhibits reviewed a wide array of fiscal observations by industry veterans who seemed to agree on seeing a 3-5% increase in business. Gene applauded the chapter’s goal to raise and donate $3,000 this year to the worthy EDPA Foundation charities, Randy Smith, and the Scholarship program.

Gene Winther

Thanks to Exhibit Builder and ECN for providing their publications for distribution and many thanks to our speakers and host, GGE for another outstanding meeting! “Events, events, events” is the theme of next chapter meeting to be at MC2’s new San Francisco office on the last Wednesday of April. Northern California Chapters of EDPA & IAEM Gathered For A Party
The Northern California Chapters of IAEM and EDPA had a very “jolly” joint Christmas party on Wednesday, December 14th in San Mateo, California.  The group creatively decorated a dozen Christmas trees that were generously donated by Rossi Convention Services and then delivered to homes of families who would have otherwise gone without. Denise Simmons, TWI and Rick Bloom, Rick Bloom Audio Visual spearheaded the event and collected fabulous raffle prizes that inspired the 60+ attendees to donate hundreds of dollars earmarked for Katrina relief programs.  The two groups plan to have other joint meetings in the future due to the big turn out and success of this one . . . a wonderful time was had by all!
